Printing Turnaround Time

Turnaround time starts after you have approved your proof, not when you place your order. When a proof is ready for your review, you will receive an email notification with a link to your job.

We recommend you add no-reply@smartpress.com to your email program’s “safe senders” list to ensure you always receive your order status updates from our system. You are responsible for logging into Smartpress.com and approving your proof. 

We will provide PDF soft proofs within 24 business hours and process proofs during our normal business hours of 8 AM to 5 PM Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

We normally combine orders to save on shipping costs, so please note that if you have 2 or more jobs with your order, your entire order will ship based on the job with the longest turnaround time.

When Turnaround Time Begins

Turnaround time begins at the next occurrence of 9:00 A.M. Central Time on a business day following your approval of the proof. For example, if you place an order on Monday with a One Day turnaround, and you approve the proof by 9:00 A.M. Central on Tuesday, the job will print that business day. If you approve the proof on a One Day turnaround job at 11:10 A.M., the job may not print until the NEXT business day. As another example, a job for two-day printing turnaround that you approve by 5:00 P.M. Central on Tuesday will be shipped out of our facility by the end of the business day on Thursday.

Smartpress.com is closed Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. As a result, these days are not counted when calculating turnaround time.

If you place an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday, or before 9:00 A.M. on Monday, you will likely not receive your proof until well after 9:00 A.M. on Monday. Pending proof approval, it will print on Tuesday.

If your proof is not approved and changes need to be made before printing can occur, the proofing cycle will start over and turnaround time will be recalculated based on your final approval.

We will make every effort to produce your order as soon as possible, so in many cases, orders may ship sooner than the policy requires. Have a hard deadline by which you need to have your printing project? Please communicate that in your order or to your customer service representative. When we know you have a hard deadline that is fast approaching, we will do whatever we can to ensure you receive your print project in time.

Long Runs May Require Additional Turnaround Time

Turnaround times for orders that are high quantity or have numerous finishing options may require additional turnaround time.

Smartpress.com reserves the right to extend the turnaround time for long run, complex die cutting, or process intensive jobs. The following types of jobs may require additional turnaround time:

  • high quantity
  • numerous finishing options
  • certain types of coatings
  • complex die cuts or folds

If your particular job requires additional time to complete, a customer service prepress professional will let you know how your turnaround time will be impacted before production of your job begins.

If you have a fast-approaching hard deadline, please contact our customer service before placing your order. We can estimate how long it will take to print, finish, and ship your order, provided that your proof is approved in a timely manner. If we can’t complete your order and deliver it to you by your deadline, we may recommend that you choose a different print provider.

Mailing and Shipping

Turnaround time does not include mailing or shipping transit times, and you should allow additional business days for delivery based on the shipping method you select.

Printing turnaround time for jobs with ground shipping is not guaranteed. We do our best to meet or beat our published dates, but orders with expedited turnaround and/or expedited delivery service do take precedence.

Printing turnaround time for jobs with expedited turnaround and/or shipping is guaranteed. To qualify for the guarantee, we must have approved proofs by 9 A.M. CST of the first day of the turnaround period. The guarantee will consider to be fulfilled when we have delivered the order to the common carrier (usually, UPS or USPS). We cannot be held accountable for the performance of the common carrier. Things can, and sometimes do, go wrong with shipping, so if you absolutely have to have your work, plan a few extra days into the job cycle.

If we fail to meet a guaranteed deadline as described above, you will receive a pro-rated refund of any rush charges or a free upgrade of delivery service to meet your required delivery date. Cancellation of an order based on printing turnaround time is allowed if you indicate in the order notes, when placing the order, that the order is time sensitive and must be shipped by the selected turnaround time.
